Four levels of comm

1. Surface comm
2. General info
3. Deep feelings (aren't always right, but real) (you can question my facts, but not what I'm feeling)
4. Deep needs

“and then what happened”

Four barriers

1. Withdrawal - silent treatment due to frustration
2. Escalation - rising tempers and vocals - lose rational thought
3. Belittling - self not rising above the issue, so putting others down below self
4. False belief - demonic - John 8 devil is father of all lies - destroying relationship

Greatest sin is through the mouth - blaspheming the holy spirit

Gods accounting for every idle words spoken - Matthew 12:36-37 - day of reckoning for all careless words; words are powerful

Blessing - mom’s encouragements and prayers

God created the world with his Words

Uncommon - God's way

a single biggest problem in communication is an illusion that it has already taken place - g b shaw

“I'm going to create a new habit”

1. Praise - I'm going to find good and say it - adding value to people - word aptly spoken is apples of gold and silver
2. Thanksgiving - grateful and gracious - say it and watch the world around you change - you gotta speak things as if what they could be, not as they are - potential and belief - affirmation - little effort, big value
3. Affection - terms of endearment - God loves you with an everlasting love - I care about you - you are an example for many
4. Encouragement - no unwholesome talk - you either build them up or tear them down - Build them up - don't let the world change you, you go change the world - you're the most beautiful person in the world - you are a champion
5. Kindness - harmless - create environment that is safe all around
6. Truth in love - growing more like Christ - spirit and truth - grace and mercy - truth without grace is mean; grace without truth is meaningless; truth and grace is medicine
7. Prayer - no matter what the situation

How I act is more important than what I do.

1. Love God
2. Love People
1. imagine what the other person is going through
2. empathize
3. Excellence

Amazing attitude


Part 2

Worldly relationship (unhealthy)

1. Protect
2. Benefit
3. Control
4. Win

I love my job if it weren't the “people”

People problem - Peter documented more because he had issues (get behind me Satan; you are a stumbling block)

1. People disappoint
2. Make mistakes
3. Selfish
4. People betray (Peter’s three denials & all disciples ran away)

Jesus never gives up

Uncommon influence - believing in another even after their worst

Do you love me? x3 - then feed my sheep - your duty & influence

My influence is not determined by my success but my ability to help another succeed - Uncommon influence

1. Focus on the person - take interest and get close and open and know and learn another - then influence - God brings out best in us
2. Focus on positive - when negative is all around - forgive one another
3. Focus on purpose
4. Focus on potential
5. Focus on process
